What's this all about?
Streetsy is a daily street art site. Our goal is to create the largest curated street art site on the web. Each day, I post 7-10 pictures of street art, and dozens of pictures get added to the Streetsy pool on Flickr by fellow streetart fans.

Wait- what exactly is street art?
Street art is art created in public places, often without permission. Street art is made in a number of mediums, including stencils, stickers, posters, paint, and sculpture. In mathematical, political, criminal, and philosophical terms, streetart is a subset of graffiti.

Where do you find all of this stuff?
I spot most of this stuff during the course of my daily routine in New York City. I live downtown, so a lot of the pictures come from SoHo, NoLIta, and the Lower East Side. I also spend a fair amount of time in Brooklyn, so I've got a lot of pictures from Williamsburg, DUMBO, Gowanus, and Red Hook. When I travel outside of New York, I try to visit the popular street art neighborhoods- so I've also taken pictures in Tokyo, Paris, Santiago, Los Angeles, and a bunch of other cities. In the Streetsy pool, there's stuff from all over the world-- six continents and counting (Antarctic penguins, please start representing!)

Do you have any favorite street artists or street art pieces?
I don't like to play favorites-- one of the reasons I love street art is the diversity of the work-- it's very difficult to judge whether one artist or piece is better or worse than another when each is so different.

Why haven't you taken a picture of my stencil/sticker/piece?
I probably just haven't seen it- I've got a better chance of seeing something if it's in one of the neighborhoods I regularly cover, and you've put up several examples. If you've gone up large and want me to check it out, email me with a location and I'll try to swing by. You might also want to look for your pictures in the Streetsy pool at Flickr-- there's tons of stuff in there that's been tagged with artist names.

Hey- you got my name wrong!
A lot of times, it's hard to figure out who created a piece, or what to tag it, so I give the picture a descriptive tag, like "bird" or "machine." Just let me know the correct name, and I'll make the change. If it's a Friends-of-Streetsy picture that's misidentified, you should click through to Flickr and notify the person that took the picture.

Can I use your pictures in my website/magazine/etc?
Absolutely- please credit Streetsy.com. See our download section for more information.

Will you put up my picture on your site?
Sure-- if you email us, and it's good stuff, we'll put it up on Dear Streetsy. Or add them to the Streetsy pool. We all look at that every day.

Uploading to the group is easy:
1. Join Flickr (free)
2. Upload your pictures using one of the uploading tools
3. Join the Streetsy group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/streetsy)
4. Add your pictures to the group (select picture, click the "send to group" icon above picture. You can also add pictures to the group using the Organizr feature.)
