A few weeks ago the Berkeley Art Museum opened a mid-career survey of the work of Barry McGee, aka Twist, the San Francisco-based tagger and artist. Just after the show opened, McGee came onto The Modern Art Notes Podcast for a rare long-format interview. One of the topics McGee discussed on the show was the new ads for the exhibition that are running on San Francisco’s MUNI buses. McGee, long opposed to advertising in the public space, said that he had put out the word that tagging the ads would be OK by him.
And as you can see, they have indeed been tagged! More images here. Also, download The MAN Podcast featuring McGee, subscribe on iTunes or via RSS. See more images of McGees discussed on the program.
